Project Description

The Kenya Airports Authority manages the three International Airports at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Moi International Airport (MIA) and Eldoret International Airport. It also manages a further seven (7) domestic airports at Wilson, Kisumu, Malindi, Lamu, Lokichoggio, Wajir and Manda, and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. In order to improve capacity to allow for natural growth traffic and improve the efficiency of operations the KAA is expanding facilities at JKIA and has received funding from the World Bank under the Northern Corridor Transport Improvement Project (NCTIP) for Expansion of passenger terminal facilities at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The project involved the design and supervision of the construction for the expansion of passenger terminal facilities at JKIA; units 1-4, arrival building, and parking garage.

The consultancy services included:

  • Review of the designs, tender/contract documentation, and construction phasing plan;
  • Provide Construction Management and Supervision Services to ensure that the works are completed on time, within the cost, meet required quality standards and are carried out with minimum interference in airport operations to the expectation of the Authority and the stakeholders;
  • To prepare preventive maintenance and building management system and provide training for post-construction maintenance and operation of the facilities;
  • To provide transition planning and implementation during construction to include the temporal and final occupation of the facilities to ensure minimum interference in airport operations.
